Terra di nessuno is a stage performance that only sees an actress on stage. The live voice is the earliest cell of the acoustic environment around the audience, but it is not a monologue, there are other voices and other sounds partly coming from acoustic landscapes of cities: the presence is not limited to the factual place, it is part of a wider geography.
Terra di nessuno looks at Walter Benjamin’s work – especially his monument to the fragment Das Passagen-Werk is taken into consideration -; his text develops between poetic and philosophical writing, in a postponement of mutual admissions of surrender, where body and voice alternate for tension and truce. The sound gives back a three-dimensionality to an essentially two-dimensional and pictorial work: the use of hardware and software allow the acoustic complexity necessary to deepen the dramaturgy of the work.
