Starting from the 1999/2000 theater season, the spring music festival was replaced by a sort of extended season. It was decided to expand the usual concert programme, extending its programming and inserting an organic thematic itinerary within it: ‘900&oltre, an event dedicated to contemporary music.
To accompany ‘900&oltre, the Quaderni di Cultura e Musica Contemporanea series was born, which has nine publications to date.

Composer, director, scholar of visual and architectural arts, expert in technologies and media, Paci Dalò accompanies the reader in the Listening Places, introducing him to the complex world of Giardini Pensili: through a passionate description-conversation he illustrates how this “permanent laboratory” has given shape to a new language, which involves the most diverse means and which is constantly evolving.
Electronics is the main instrument that the Giardini Pensili company uses to dissolve the boundaries between the dimensions of space, time and sound, giving life to works and performances that are among the most extraordinary on the international scene: theatrical pieces, musical compositions (or more specifically sound), installations, radio works, publications, theoretical studies, technological applications and an innovative “dramaturgical” use of the media are just some of the tools used.
Radio production is dealt with by Parole Elettrico, the essay by the young researcher Savina Fosca Fragliasso dedicated to the radio performances of Paci Dalò and the Giardini Pensili.

The volume includes a CD with eight compositions (from the end of the 1980s to 2003) chosen from the most diverse expressions of the company’s work.
