Sefirot סְפִירוֹת

Sefirot סְפִירוֹת is a sound performance by Roberto Paci Dalò. It is an artistic investigation on Jewish cabalistic theosophy. Roberto Paci Dalò redefines the spectators’ perception, as it is in his style, mixing atmosphere, sound and action.

Sefirot is the fourth event of the Bologna exhibition of performing arts In Corpo 012.

In Sefirot Roberto Paci Dalò  talks about himself and his daily life. It is an intimate performance, which is part of his artistic investigation of the “dramaturgy of the media” and the “theater of listening”. Sefirot develops through the symbolism of theosophical and cabalisctic Jewish mysticism, where the clothing – a Prince Albert characteristic of American Orthodox Jews – becomes the artistic means to contextualize the action and “define the means of understanding”.

Does that mean Sefirot?

The performance by Roberto Paci Dalò takes its name from a Hebrew term connected to Kabalistic theosophy. The Sefirah (plural of Sefirot) are the ten modalities or the ten “instruments of God” through which the Infinite is revealed (the Ein Sof). These ten elements, in the visual cabal, are depicted in the form of abstract geometries, the same evoked by other projects of Roberto Paci Dalò, such as Niggunim, Niggunim | Nobori and Shul שול.

Moreover, in the cabalistic tradition there is also a correspondence between the ten instruments of divine revelation and the human anatomical configuration: each sefirot is in fact associated with a body locus. This is how the Jewish Kabbalah becomes a metaphor of the human body, of the “human feeling” in all its dimensions. This is the fundamental meeting point of Roberto Paci Dalò’s research and the artistic program of In Corpo 2012.

In Corpo 012

In Corpo 012 is a performative arts exhibition held in Bologna in 2012 and is developed in five events, involving a team of eight Italian artists. Together with Roberto Paci Dalò, Max Bottino, Domenico Buzzetti, Tiziana Contino, Giovanni Gaggia, Rita Vitali Rosati, Chiara Scarfò and Monia Lisa Tina will take part in the exhibition.

It is a choral project, conceived and produced in team-work both at process and conceptual level. Because, as the speaker Isabella Falbo points out, the complexity reached by the visual arts is such as to make teamwork indispensable, at every stage of the process, from the design to the presentation of the event.
