EVERYDAYJOHNCAGE is a project by Andrea Felli, Roberto Paci Dalò, Leonardo Sonnoli conceived in Rimini, from January 1 to December 31, 2012. During one year a viral system distributes daily fragments and materials related to John Cage, in the public space of the city as well as in private places.

It is difficult to label John Cage “simply” as a composer. Cage was in fact the triggering agent of a series of innovative researches in the fields of art, science and nature of the last century. Beyond the celebratory rhetoric (in 1912 he celebrated his centenary) Cage is part of the daily thoughts and practices of many artists. It is for this reason that in the ocean of Cage celebrations all over the world (concerts, festivals, exhibitions, conferences) Roberto Paci Dalò, Andrea Felli and Leonardo Sonnoli are the creators of a project that is local and global at the same time. EVERYDAYJOHNCAGE is a dense network of unusual events throughout 2012. A year of Cage in Rimini, not to deny the Fellini-like, hyperbolic and visionary vocation of this city. This is an independent project, born from the esteem and love of Roberto Paci Dalò, Andrea Felli and Leonardo Sonnoli for the American artist. EVERYDAYJOHNCAGE on the one hand works on its own schedule and calendar, on the other hand it becomes a plot for the events of all those who wish to confront themselves with Cage during the year in Rimini. This is why the calendar is fluid, Cagean par excellence, based as it is on such a wide period of time, in which many things can happen, many of them probably unexpected.

È stato il suono il protagonista assoluto del secondo concerto della rassegna musicale del MUSMA Dal segno al suono. Dal suono al segno, che ha visto Roberto Paci Dalò e Andrea Felli esibirsi nella performance live “Everydayjohncagelive”. […] i due musicisti e compositori, attivi nel panorama artistico italiano e internazionale, si sono esibiti in una performance elettroacustica, amalgamando e combinando i suoni e la voce di John Cage ai timbri del cimbalom, della kalimba, del carillon, del toy trumpet e del toy piano, del clarinetto, del clarinetto basso, di una fender telecaster e di diversi oggetti quotidiani (bicchieri, chiodi, palline di metallo, cucchiai, ecc.).

Nel centenario della nascita di John Cage (1912-1992) una importante manifestazione a Rimini farà scoprire ogni giorno qualcosa in più sul compositore americano.

Un anno dedicato a John Cage. In occasione del centenario della nascita, a Rimini si celebra ogni giorno. Con un progetto disseminato e virale

“Un progetto paradossale, tanto piccolo quanto enorme: un anno di Cage a Rimini. Quotidianamente. Tanto per non smentire la vocazione fellinista, iperbolica e visionaria di questa città.” Introducono così Andrea Felli, Roberto Paci Dalò e Leonardo Sonnoli il progetto Everydayjohncage, un omaggio al grande compositore americano in forma di ricordo quotidiano e virale. Una serie di iniziative volte disseminare per gli spazi pubblici e privati della città materiali e frammenti legati alla sua vita, al suo pensiero e alla sua opera.
Per cominciare, un quotidiano, il Corriere Romagna, pubblicherà ogni giorno una frase di Cage, mentre l’emittente Radio Icaro trasmetterà degli spot audio. Ma non mancheranno gli interventi nello spazio urbano, come una stanza nel centro storico aperta giorno e notte dove ascoltare e vedere materiali e le fotografie di Roberto Masotti stampate 1:1 e posizionate in varie location. Segnali grafici e acustici verranno distribuiti anche sul sistema di trasporto pubblico della città, mentre per il prossimo 17 gennaio è prevista una performance live dei tre curatori del progetto presso FAR Fabbrica Arte Rimini (John Cage Remix, dalle ore 21).

Among the projects

A newspaper (Corriere Romagna) publishes a John Cage quote every morning throughout the year, a radio station (Radio Icaro) airs an audio spot every day. These two media guarantee a daily basis while during the year a series of projects take place which work precisely on the viral penetration of Cage in the city. In short, Rimini becomes Cage (and vice versa). The whole city is crossed by his playful and anarchic spirit.

On January 17 at 9 pm at FAR Fabbrica Arte Rimini: “Everydayjohncage Live” a live performance by Andrea Felli, Roberto Paci Dalò and Leonardo Sonnoli, as a contribution to Art’s Birthday global network. In the performance are used Cage’s materials remixed and distributed in the spaces of the newborn gallery of modern and contemporary art in Rimini. Everything is broadcasted live through the Art’s Birthday network www.artsbirthday.net.

A photograph by Roberto Masotti (one of Cage’s “official” photographers with whom he has maintained a friendly relationship for years) placed in various public and private spaces in the city. The photograph portrays Cage full-length on a 1:1 scale. Masotti will work with a wide range of people starting from his (and Silvia Lelli’s) extraordinary archive.

A small room made of sounds and images of Cage in the historical center of the city with a window on the street accessible day and night. A place where you can also listen to his voice.

Graphic and acoustic signals distributed on the city’s public transport system.

Edition / multiple. A container collects day by day the materials of the project.

A blog documents daily through photographs, texts, sounds, videos what happens in the city.
