The Profession of Arms it’s the evocative title of the site-specific work created by Roberto Paci Dalò for the Museo della Battaglia di Anghiari new installation . It is an intervention that starts from the model, which has always been present in this room, reproducing the battlefield of 29 June 1440 over an area of about 9 square meters. Through the use of audio and video technologies, the diorama comes to life and transports the observer to the centre of the battleground. The space of the installation is simultaneously expanded through paintings and drawings on the surrounding walls.
The idea for the work comes from in-depth reflections on the function of the museum as a guardian of the memory of the historical event and the lost painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The Profession of Arms arises from a lack, from an absence, with the intention of generating new reflections and rethinking the museum itself as a place that activates the imagination.
