In Two Worlds

In Two Worlds is the first release of the new L’Arte dell’Ascolto label.
Label born from the homonymous international festival dedicated to radio and art that has been held in Rimini since 1991. Festival that has created unusual and pioneering projects such as Publiphono (20 kilometers of acoustic diffusion on the Rimini beach used by artists such as Scanner and Rupert Huber/Tosca who made special live performances), La lunga notte (musicians connected via radio links for a single performance between Italy, Germany, Austria, Israel, 1993), Schwarz auf Weiss (the Italian premiere of Heiner Goebbels’ work performed by Ensemble Modern), Mondo ex (with the writer Predrag Matvejevic’ together with artists from all over the former Yugoslavia). In 1995 the festival generated Radio Lada, a web art radio co-produced with RAI Audiobox and ORF Kunstradio.
And now a further development of this project was born the label L’Arte dell’Ascolto dedicated to investigations into territories such as: new electronics, soundscape, acoustic dramaturgy, spoken words, sound and art.
In Two Worlds is also a tribute to John Cage, one of the main supporters of Dalo’s work and a reference figure for him. The title and the handwritten parts of the CD graphics are based on an unpublished mesostic by John Cage dedicated to Roberto Paci Dalò.

In Two Worlds

Elie is dedicated to the son of the cellist / composer / conductor Jean-Paul Dessy (Brussels). This entirely electronic composition was created by Paci Dalò in Rome in his Colle Oppio studio.
Code, Files and Remix are part of a project created together with the group of architects Lab [au] within the Netdays 2002 festival (Brussels). On that occasion a work was created that had multiple levels of presentation: from the website to the sound / light installation in the public space. The three sections of the song are based on a scan through the compositions of all the artists participating in the festival. This investigation produced a large database of audio files that allowed the creation of the work. A sort of sonic portrait of the entire festival.
Tallinn was recorded live in Estonia during a concert presented at the invitation of Maks Surin, one of the cult figures of the Estonian art and technology scene.
All compositions have a lot to do with perception and space (visual, acoustic, temporal). Invisible architectures are created through a minimal music made of layers and pulsations. A cinematographic approach to sound where the exploration of urban space is of particular importance and with it the adventure in the world of sound used in all its breadth.
