Millesuoni. Deleuze, Guattari e la musica elettronica

This book offers for the first time to the Italian public the story of the interaction between Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophy and electronic music. A story that began, perhaps, when Deleuze took part in 1972 in the recording of the Electronique Guerrilla album by the experimental rock band Heldon, lending his voice to a fragment of Umano, too human by Nietzsche.

To retrace this complex and rich story, Emanuele Quinz explores some key concepts from which Deleuze and Guattari elaborated their reflection on music. This is followed by a series of analyses (Murphy, Cox, Franck), derived from different geographical and theoretical backgrounds, which outline the history of the impact of the two philosophers’ thought on experimental electronic music. The lyrics by Hinant, Szepanski and the interview with Paul D. Miller, aka DJ Spooky, introduce the testimonies of those who integrated Deleuze and Guattari’s thought into the practice of music production. The book closes with a contribution of only images by Roberto Paci Dalò.
